Working in a cottage, a historic bungalow or Victorian property large enough for your studio and home and affordable enough for you to enjoy your new surroundings?  We would love for you to consider moving to our paradise, Galveston Island, Texas where there is not a state income tax!

When you bring artists into a town, it changes the character, attracts economic development, makes it more attractive to live in and renews the economics of that town,” he said. “There are ways to draw artists into the center of things that will attract other people.”

The mission of the Artist Homestead Galveston Island  is to revitalize Galveston's historic neighborhoods by promoting home ownership by visual and performing artists and those in  arts-related professions. A marketing campaign and referral network will showcase Galveston's unique lifestyle opportunities with the goal of encouraging artists to relocate to Galveston Island--thereby contributing to its livability and cultural diversity, enhancing its desirability as a visitor destination, and rehabilitating its historic housing stock.

                      What is Artwalk?

For over 18 years, Galveston Arts Center has produced ArtWalk on Saturday nights in the heart of the historic downtown district. Now spreading to other parts of the island, ArtWalk occurs approximately every 6 to 8 weeks.  ArtWalk takes place in existing commercial galleries, non-profit art spaces, and "other walls" such as restaurants, businesses and retail stores. ArtWalk promotes the visual arts and artists, offers alternative places to see and learn about art while introducing new comers, as well as return visitors, to the island's art community
